Human Resources for Health are in short supply in Africa. Global and African efforts are undertaken to quantify problems and identify solutions. However, the focus of all efforts is limited to human resource needs to deliver health care – in specific with the care for what are globally defined ‘health emergencies’. Consequently, categorization, research and studies concentrate on ‘doctors, nurses, and a few other categories’ only. Human resources for health research are not included in global nor in regional assessments and solutions.
